While conducting a comparative analysis of computer hardware research and configuring a Dell M6600 computer system with a Quadro graphics card to run Autodesk Revit, 3DMax, and the Adobe Master Suite including Photoshop you may be shocked to discover a $2-3,000 price difference for a similar Alienware computer system. Unable to find an Autodesk certified graphics cards for Alienware computers, an email to both the Dell and Autodesk teams seemed useless because if they tested and certified those machines and cards they would have published the results. A Google search of “autodesk hardware certification” produced excellent forum feedback. Some people said GeForce graphics cards run CAD just fine but other people provided insights to the contrary. In addition, there were plenty of people reporting problems running CAD on GeForce graphics cards. Finally, a great short article by Uwe Scheffel on Tom’s Hardware sealed the deal for me,
Performance Gaming Vs. Workstation: GeForce GTX 280 And Quadro FX 4800 --- a Dell M6600 workstation computer system with a Quadro graphics card is the better system. Tom's Hardware test results validate why they do not recommend using GeForce gaming graphics cards for Autodesk and provide the evidence for an intelligent and objective decision on the matter.
Another distinguishing fact that sets Dell M6600 computers apart from all the competition is their 5 years next business day (NBD), all parts, all labor, and all shipping paid support. For students and companies with real deadlines, there is no substitute. Consideration of Boxx computers quickly dissolved because of Boxx's poor 1-year hardware warranty which sadly they try to cloak with three year software support. In other words, if Boxx is the best, then why don't they back it up with the best hardware warranty?
